How not to do a re-brand

Itโ€™s been two years now since Angieโ€™s List renamed itself Angi. This was done because, allegedly, โ€œ(W)eโ€™re not just a list anymore. Customers were confined and constrained by the literal nature of the name.โ€

But both their TV ads and their website all but scream, โ€œWe used to be Angieโ€™s List!โ€ If youโ€™re still encountering so much resistance from your customers after two years, perhaps itโ€™s time to concede theyโ€™re comfortable with being confined and constrained.
