Lost apples

This sounds like a very interesting project:

โ€œIf you have old apple trees in Washington, Idaho, or Oregon, we want your apples! We look for apple trees planted prior to 1920 and the older the better. If you mail us your apples we will try to identify what varieties you send us. Send an email to rebeccajmcgee@icloud.com or dbens23@gmail.com and we can send you instructions on picking and mailing the apples. Thank you!โ€

Thereโ€™s both a Wikipedia page and a Facebook page, but, oddly, no page of their own.

“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.” โ€” John Muir

I have long misquoted this (Iโ€™m pretty sure I first read it in Steven Minkinโ€™s otherwise fantastic novel, โ€ฆA No Doubt Mad Idea), but according to the Sierra Club Iโ€™m not the only one. So, now I have the authentic quote to go by.

Iโ€™ve used it for years to describe how my mind works, and why I digress as much as I do. The digressions arenโ€™t intentional, itโ€™s just that picking at things leads me to those hitches.

And while Iโ€™m on the topic, listen to this:
